Pine View Apartments

Pine View Apartments is the first new-construction project in RI to fully utilize Federal 4% Low Income Housing Tax Credit. A new challenge Women's Development Corp. faced doing rural development on raw land was having to bring in all their own infrastructure, such as roadways, wells, and septic systems. Women's Development Corp. is also planning to add solar panels to the rooftops of the buildings to help lower the operating costs of the homes. This project is a good example of how collaboration with and participation from the local town government can work to meet the needs of local residents.

The project consists of 40 new homes for low income renters, of which 32 are targeting to households at 60% AMI, five at 50% AMI and three at 30% AMI. This project also benefited from a partnership with the Newport Housing Authority, who was able to project base eight vouchers in the development.
