PROVIDENCE, RIThe Housing Network of Rhode Island (HNRI) was pleased to hear Gov. Dan McKee’s plans to propose a $120 million housing bond. We agree with the Governor that we must maintain momentum and work collectively to “keep Rhode Island building and fighting for the housing we deserve,” creating a state where all residents live in safe, healthy, and affordable homes in thriving communities.

Housing is essential to advancing the affordability agenda that the Governor laid out in his address — when Rhode Islanders can afford to live in their desired community, they’re better able to stay healthy, get to work, keep kids learning, and fully participate in and contribute to the state’s economic growth. We look forward to learning more about the Governor’s plans to invest in housing and homelessness with the release of the official budget proposal later this week.
