Beach Avenue Apartments
In July 2015, the Rhode Island Family Shelter located on Beach Avenue in Warwick was forced to close and Crossroads was asked to step in and take over operation of the site, previously consisting of seven permanent supportive apartments and an emergency shelter. Over the course of several years, Crossroads worked with various partners to develop a plan to convert the shelter into additional permanent supportive apartments.
Now known as Beach Avenue Apartments, the redevelopment converted the former shelter rooms located on the first floor to four additional units of permanent supportive housing. The configuration includes one 1-bedroom unit, one 2-bedroom unit, and two 3-bedroom units.
Through this project, Crossroads is able to continue to respond to the need for permanent supportive housing for very low-income families experiencing homelessness.
